Literally, the expression “finger food” can be translated as “food at your fingertips”.
Easy to prepare, finger food can accompany an aperitif, be served as an appetizer, add color to a buffet. In any case it is always of strong visual impact.

In February 2002, at the Salzburg Expo-Gast, the chefs of the participating countries were asked to prepare recipes for the start of a meal that could be eaten with the fingers. Here for the first time the term finger food is coined.
