The vineyards of Isonzo

Book Experiences

THE EMERALD RIVER NOURISHES THE VINEYARDS THAT PRODUCE THE WINES.

The water of the river Isonzo feed the alluvial soil of its valley. And the vineyards surrounding Tenuta Borgo Conventi find nourishment in the soil on the right bank of the river. It’s a complicated microclimate, chosen since 1985 to grow Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Friulano, Sauvignon, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. And to produce young, fresh wines.

THE MICROCLIMATE

Friuli Isonzo DOC area has a Mediterranean microclimate with plenty of sunshine. Considerable diurnal range helps the grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in fruit with balance and excellent flavour.

THE SOIL

The soil is predominantly Quaternary, with ancient alluvial deposits from the Pleistocene and the more recent and current Holocene, caused by flooding of the river Isonzo. To a lesser extent there are colluvial deposits, terra rossa and recent and current flooding of minor watercourses.

ISONZO RANGE

Born from the waters of the Isonzo

Wonderful wines, witnesses and custodians of the story of the Tenuta’s land, which extends onto the Gorizia plain and the right bank of an emerald-coloured river, the Isonzo. This is the birthplace of our fresh, young single-varietal wines.
